The Dirt in My Eye

One day, I was thinking about a woman I know that I do not like being around. At the same time I was having this thought, I was pulling weeds in my neighbor’s yard. I had been looking at these particular weeds out of my kitchen window for weeks, and thought I would help my neighbor out.

As I was pulling a weed out of the ground, a chunk of dirt came up with it, and flew right into my left eye. Instantly, I could not open my eye, and it felt like a large pebble was in it.

As I was walking to our burn pile, to dispose of the weeds, with only my right eye open, Yahweh very clearly said to me, "From now on, you are ONLY going to look at people through your RIGHT eye." I knew without a doubt that Yahweh was speaking to me about the woman I had just been thinking badly about.

I inquired, "What do you want me to see Lord, through my right eye?" He said, "I am going to teach you how to SEE the GOOD in people."

I knew Yahweh was disciplining me for judging this woman. I asked him, "What do YOU want me to SEE in her." He replied, "She loves her family."

Immediately, I was able to see Yahweh's good in her. And his words softened my heart towards her. I then went to my kitchen sink, in order to wash the dirt out of my eye, so that I could SEE CLEARLY once again. This experience gave me a whole new perspective of how Yahweh looks at people. He always looks at everyone from HIS higher perspective.

He sees their journey. He sees where they have come from, their past, their struggles, the good, the bad, the ugly, and the plans he has for them. Yes, he sees their flaws, but he doesn't focus on them, because he also sees their glorious future.

So truly who are we to judge or even make assumptions of people we know or meet. For we have no idea what their story looks like.

Thank you, Father Yahweh, for this encounter, while I was pulling weeds in my yard. For I discovered that I have some weeds growing in my own eyes that need to be pulled! I now have a new appreciation of how much Yahweh loves and truly cares for us all.

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye." - Matthew 7:3-5

May Yahweh bless you and keep you,
